JENNEE ALLAN | FEATURED UTAH BIRTH PROFESSIONAL

Jennee Allan_Midwife UtahI am super excited to feature midwife Jennee Allan and her gorgeous birth suite, Eagle Mountain Midwife. Jennee is a super sweet soul and I am so glad I had the pleasure of meeting her this year. She is so good at what she does and her birth suite is just stunning! So much light, beautiful colors and a wonderful feeling there. So, without further ado, here is her feature, along with some yummy images of her suite and her team!

Please tell me about yourself:

Hi, my name is Jennee and I’m a home birth Midwife DEM. I had all seven of my birth children at home. 17 years ago I gave birth to my oldest and have been a birth junkie since. I did self study and followed incredible midwives until the time came to practice on my own. I consider myself an intuit and feel that we never stop learning. I have seven birth kids ranging in age from one to seventeen. I have adopted 3 girls and have four more girls who we will be adopting soon. I have an amazing supportive husband who became an EMT just so he could help me in my practice. He is a prior military helicopter pilot, a hypnotist and self proclaimed birth junkie himself. I love telling him all about the births and he loves it too:)

I am busy, but am organized and give focus to the people who need it. I love my heavenly father and know I am blessed to be called to this position.

Name three things that make you super happy?

My hubby
My baby
A quiet bath

Why did you choose to become a midwife?

I was told to.

How long have you been a midwife?

6 years

What is your favorite part about your profession?

Dads…:) Birth makes most men nervous and vulnerable.. it’s fun. :)  Really, I love helping people heal from past trauma and witnessing such spiritual experiences.

What’s your first memory of being a midwife?

The times that a lady who is a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) Realizes she CAN do it. What a rush…

What has surprised you most about being a midwife?

How magic it all is. That things always work out around birth.

What do you wish other people knew about birth?

How safe homebirth can be.

What would you say are some of your strongest beliefs about birth?

It is meant to empower women and an amazing time to be taught some of the greatest lessons. Don’t run from birth, enjoy it.

Tell me about someone who has influenced your decision to be a midwife?

My brother saw me as a midwife before I did. I told him I am not that kind of person and he looked right at me and said “yes you are” he is a lawyer and I guess I trusted him. :)

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

I have a deep love for people who sacrifice their lives for the nation such as CIA, FBI, Military. I feel they are often forgotten about. I just a wrote a book for them that will be published soon.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about becoming a midwife?

Make SURE it is really what you want. It is not for everyone.

What would you like to see change in the birth industry over the next five years?

Less fear.

How would your best friend describe you?

A leader, who is funny and sassy. Passionate about children, babies, mommies, and people. Busy, but loving and always working on something, never stopping.

What do you do when you aren’t working?

Walking/running, writing, meditating…

What else can you tell me about being a midwife?

It is a heavy responsibility, but truly the most joyous job on the planet.

Where might we find you if you’re not working?

Prob hanging out with my hubby.

Enjoy the following testimonials from past clients of Jennee:

“We had a great experience working with Jennee! Less than a year ago she delivered our 7th baby and it was the best birth ever! Jennee proved to be a highly trained, compassionate professional who wasn’t afraid to listen to my concerns and her own intuition. She served our whole family, not just me and our new baby (including making her special chicken soup). Jennee has worked with many of the local midwives over the last few years, and incorporated a blend of the best techniques and methods from all of them. I loved the order and calm she brought to my birth, and how she stayed focused on my needs, despite the fact that she was almost 9 months pregnant herself at the time! I am so excited that she plans to continue to bless our community with her unique skills and talents. She is a great woman, a dear friend, and an exceptional midwife.”  ~Loretta Chase
